The Palm Springs Desert Sun newspaper recently ran a guest column by Marlene Ingrao that offers advice pertaining very much to today's issues in B.C. and Kelowna.
A Dec. 18 headline in Sun pointed out that the City of La Quinta is laying off 25 per cent of the city staff due to budget problems.
I feel Ingrao's advice about restraint and spending only what one can afford should be shared not only with the citizens of B.C., but with residents of Kelowna.

I recently read that taxes in Kelowna are going up yet again, and I believe taxpayers have reached the tipping point.
It was my impression that the last city election was in large part over taxation, which is possibly the reason why many incumbent councillors were defeated.
