The opening line reads "The provincial government has announced a proposed new framework to bring about 10 years of labour peace with B.C. teachers."
First of all, since when does the government interfere with the process of collective bargaining - even before the process begins?
It was shocking when the Liberal provincial government tore up legal contracts a few years ago. Now, they are trying to set their own parameters in advance and in the media.
Why would any group wish to tie their contract specifics to any other bargaining outcome?
This seems more like a grandstanding ploy to garner sympathy before a provincial election.
Well, yes, they do need any small edge to try to win back voters - too bad that the general public will be able to see this as one more attempt to impose their beliefs on the public in general.
